My practice is largely self-reflective and emotive, drawing on my life experiences. My practice is interdisciplinary, working with universal materials to express my thoughts and ideas.
My current body of work considers transformation, investigating identity and feelings of uncertainty. It also explores the concept of home, questioning whether it’s a place or a person; somewhere that can provide a feeling of comfort or safety; or a place where our voice is heard.
When we find the place to be okay with our internal experiences and what we feel, to know we can be with it without becoming lost at sea or overwhelmed by the wave of emotional experience, then we can continue to create our story in the reality of today not yesterday ... - Monica Franke (2022)
