My MFA work has focused on marrying my background of product design with visual art. I have looked at ways of blurring the lines of the designer and the artist within me, whilst honouring their relationship with each other.
I am inspired by snow and ice, their patterns observed, and feelings evoked by the bright white environment that is so colourless and yet so colourful all at the same time.
In this work I have used my passion for colour and light to explore the illusionary qualities of a variety of sheet plastics when influenced by the surrounding environment. I have created an array of work that harnesses the light and celebrates colour to challenge the viewer’s visual experience, particularly around what is real and what is in fact a projection or shadow.
